The Droid Blockade of Cato Neimoidia
Year: 25 ABY
Location: Cato Neimoidia
Participants: The New Galactic Republic, Lott Dod's Droid Army
Casualties - New Republic: Minimal
Casualties - Droids: Moderate
Outcome: Total New Republic Victory, Droid Army shut down, Lott Dod apprehended and committed, Xavier Grey leaves the Jedi Order.

"Cato Neimoidia? That was a surreal battle. It was a match-up that until that point had only existed in hypothetical match-ups. No one ever imagined that the Separatist Droid Armies of the Clone Wars would clash with the proud men and women of the New Republic. For the 501st, it was a chance to finish the war our brothers had been bred for. We had all hoped that Lord Skywalker would give the order to rally to Cato Neimoidia's defense. We didn't care if it was to rescue the Neimoidians. We were all just looking forward to finishing off the clankers once and for all." - Excerpt from the Journal of an unknown 501st Legion Stormtrooper.

Prologue:
In 25 ABY, former Trade Federation Senator Lott Dod, well into his declining years, fell into the delusion that the Clone Wars were still ongoing and that evidence had been found that linked him to the Confederacy of Independent Systems (which had been publicly known since the end of the Clone Wars). To avoid being captured by the Republic, Dod activated a long dormant army of Separatist Battle Droids that the Neimoidians had been sitting on since the end of the Clone Wars. The Droids formed a blockade around the planet and Dod instituted a bizarre version of martial law, instituting strange edicts such as making "Ewoks a crime punishable by Hutts" and ordering all Muja Fruit stores to be provided to the droid army.

The Neimoidians called for help from the Republic in an effort to rid themselves of the insane Dod. In response, the Republic sent the Endor Fleet, under the command of the legendary Admiral Ackbar to help lift the siege. When word got out that the old Separatist Battle Droids had been reactivated, many of the Clone Wars veterans within the New Republic and even the Jedi Order jumped at the chance to relive their glory days in the Grand Army of the Republic and to battle the old enemy one last time. Among the Jedi who joined the battle were Jedi Masters K'Kruhk, Anakin Skywalker, and X2. Anakin even pledged the support of the 501st Legion, Skywalker's Fist, to the cause. Many of the Fett Cloned 501st Legion members saw it a chance to "put down the clankers once and for all" and gladly volunteered their support. Among the volunteers were Jedi Knight Mara Jade Skywalker, Jedi Padawans Kento Marek, Jaina Solo, and X2's son Xavier Grey, as well as X2's wife Shara, the retired Clone Trooper BL-1707 "Able" and the droid R2-D2.

The Battle:
The plan was simple. While Ackbar and the Endor Fleet engaged the droid blockade in orbit, Anakin and his Black Squadron along with X2, Xavier Grey, and Jaina Solo would escort the Jade Saber, carrying Mara Jade, Kento, Shara, and a contingent of Republic Troopers and 501st Stormtroopers towards Dod's palace. There the three Jedi Masters and the soldiers would draw out the bulk of the droid army guarding the palace while the three Padawans infiltrated the main compound in an effort to shut down the droids. K'Kruhk would lead a contingent of soldiers to liberate Dod's "political prisoners." Able, despite his increasing number, led one of the Commando Teams to disable the power generators powering the droid defense grid. The plan went off without a hitch until after Dod had been captured. Shortly after the three Padawans had infiltrated Dod's treasure room where the deranged dictator had holed himself up, one of the Tactical Droids leading the attack caught the three Jedi via hologram and ordered the destruction of the Jedi's transport: the Jade Saber.

An old AAT was raised into the hangar where the Jade Saber was located and destroyed the ship with a single shot from its main cannon. X2's wife, Shara, had been on board the ship when it was destroyed and later died in her husband's arms. Her son, Xavier had witnessed this via hologram and the anguish and pain he felt at the loss of his mother caused him to succumb to the Dark Side. Filled with anger at Dod for reactivating the droids, he was prepared to kill the old senator but was stopped by Jaina who fought him out of the treasure room where he was confronted by Anakin and Kento who stood prepared to stop the blinded teenager. Despite being outmatched, Xavier attempted to attack Jaina but she took his left arm off just below the elbow, disarming him.

Aftermath:
The Droid Blockade ended with minimal casualties. Dod was incarcerated for the remainder of his life within a mental institution as it had been determined long before the blockade that he was suffering from a degenerative mental disease common to Neimoidians his age. As such he could not be held accountable for his actions. The remains of the droid army was seized by the Republic, with the blessing and encouragement of the Neimoidian Government. Most of the old battleships were scrapped but a few were commissioned for Republic Military Service or sold to civilian agencies (disarmed of course). The Battle droids were scrapped, sold to various civilian agencies as museum pieces, or put away in storage as the droids, despite their age, were still effective and efficient in the performance of their duties. A few of the droids were acquired by the reorganized Baktoid Armor Workshops on Geonosis for analysis.

There were very few civilian casualties inflicted upon the populace of Cato Neimoidia, the casualties only in the lower double digits. Military casualties on the Republic side were light to moderate which was mostly owed to the antiquated technology utilized by the droid forces and equally antiquated military strategies. Perhaps the greatest casualty of all was X2's wife Shara. While X2, who was no stranger to losing people he cared for, knew how to handle his wife's loss but their son Xavier became disillusioned and uncertain of his role in life. He left the Jedi Order, removing his Padawan braid and leaving it along with his lightsaber behind on Yavin IV and joining the Republic Military. Xavier would eventually become a Captain in the Republic military and was the leader of his father's Grey Squadron until 28 ABY when the squadron was taken over by Jaina Solo.
