Description

The following information relates only to my Assassin's Creed Fanfiction story: Anne Bonny - Colonial Assassin, and no other universes.

The image was acquired via Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

...

For Immediate Circulation amongst the Global Brotherhood of Assassins.
Below is information acquired from our own research into genetic bloodlines, launched as part of our own Animus research initiative. This information comes from our Subject 02 (Name redacted). We are currently still sifting through the memories of Anne Bonny, renowned pirate active throughout the early 18th century, but it is her public history after her arrest and disappearance that has since come to light thanks to our initiative. The Templars have the monopoly on how history is written in it's most literal sense, effectively expunging the millennia old war between Assassins and Templars from the pages of history, which has aided both sides equally to some extent. However it has also led to some important characters and their roles in the history of either the Assassins and/or Templars becoming lost in the shuffle. We mean to bring some of this history to light, at the very least, for our own edification if not the world's.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted

Name: Anne Bonny (Nee Cormac)

Born: March 8th, 1702 - Kensale, Ireland
Age: 21 (As of 1723)
Occupation: Barmaid - The Salty Spyglass, Assassin, Pirate (Formerly)
Known Relations: James Cormac (ex-husband, Marriage annulled), William Cormac (father)
Affiliations: Brotherhood of Assassins - South Colonial Brotherhood

In 1723, Anne Bonny, the famous pirate, after an unusual experience with an Apple of Eden (See files re:Tyranny of the Black Flag), found the conviction she felt she lacked when asked to join the Assassins in 1722. Her training was rather short, with the Mentor of the West Indies Brotherhood, Ah Tabai, commenting that he had never seen a Recruit advance so quickly. By June of 1723, Anne had earned the rank of Master Assassin and sent to the Thirteen Colonies to create one of the early Assassin Bureaus in the colonies. (Chronologically, Anne's Bureau would predate the Brotherhood's arrival to the Colonies with John de la Tour from the French Brotherhood by almost ten years. Strangely she is never mentioned in the memories of Shay Cormac or Connor Kenway. We think the reason for this is deeper in her memories. We're still sifting through them. - S. Hastings.) Anne arrived in Charleston, South Carolina in early July of 1723. There she established the alias of Caroline Read, a combination of her late friend Mary Read's name and the name of Edward Kenway's late wife, Caroline Scott.

Once in Charleston, "Caroline" got a job working as a barmaid at a dockside tavern, the Salty Spyglass. Being in a relatively rough part of town, Anne wore her hidden blades at all times and carried a flintlock hidden in her dress. Her occupation afforded her a terrific opportunity to eavesdrop on conversations amongst sailors and off-duty British Regulars, using the information to identify corruption or injustice, using that information to track down potential Templars. Being the only Assassin in the Colonies meant carrying out some of her own contracts herself, leading her to adopt a second alias for when she went out as an Assassin or masquerade as a man. This alias was Edward Bonny, using Edward Kenway's first name and her own married name. Her first assassination after arriving in Charleston was an abusive slaver: Robert Pike, Captain of a slave ship, who worked for the East India Company.

Living in Charleston meant she had to avoid her father, William Cormac, who had become an influential businessman since her running away with James Bonny, her ex-husband. She was still a wanted woman but it had been a few years since her last sighting in Jamaica in 1720 when she disappeared from prison so the heat had significantly died down. Fortunately she'd picked up the skills needed to disguise herself as a man and was able to evade identification, even as Caroline Read.

Her equipment while working as an Assassin, she would braid her hair and wear a green and hooded British Officer's uniform, one she had picked out from Edward Kenway's Great Inagua hideaway after he left and customized. She also made off with a spare gunbelt, four of Edward's extra flintlocks, and one of his cutlasses. Ah Tabai awarded her a blowpipe upon naming her a Master Assassin. While working as a barmaid, she only had one pistol and her hidden blades but it was enough. To some extent she operated in a similar manner as Aveline de Grandpre in that she was able to adopt different "forms." Her barmaid persona made her inconspicuous enough to blend in with most crowds. As "Edward" she pretended to be a young Irishman and more brazenly carried her sword and flintlocks in addition to her hidden blades. After having served on ships for years under both Rackham and Kenway, Anne's well versed in seamanship and can also free-climb/freerun like a true Assassin. Parroting the words of Edward Kenway, "Every finger's a fishhook. That's how you tell a true sailor."

(One thing that Anne has remarked in her memories is that she seems to have inherited the "Eagle Sense," something she acknowledges she didn't have before encountering the Apple in 1723. We believe that she might've had the ability all along, only the Apple may have awakened it from a dormant state. At least that's the theory Rebecca and I are going with. - S. Hastings).

...

We're still gathering data from her memories so we apologize again for missing or incomplete information. We'll get this information out as soon as we can. (Although why we don't get the initiates to do this is beyond me). - S. Hastings
