Hyperdrive: Class 1
Destroyed: 22 BBY (Yavin IV)
Affiliations: The Jedi Order, The Old Republic

During the early stages of Clone Wars, Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker was assigned a Delta-7 Aethersprite starfighter for use through the Clone Wars. Naturally, Anakin couldn't be satisfied with a generic Delta-7, and began extensively modifying his starfighter. He had to use a generic Delta-7 while his personal one was undergoing upgrades. Anakin named this starfighter the Azure Angel, a subtle honoring of his secret wife, Padme Amidala. Anakin would only get to use the Azure Angel once during the Battle of Muunilist where he expertly took on entire squadrons of Vulture Droid Starfighters. It was during this battle that Anakin first encountered his reoccurring foe, Asajj Ventress. He would then pursue Ventress to Yavin IV where, shortly after landing, Ventress would destroy the Azure Angel.

Anakin, while annoyed, would build a second Azure Angel, the Azure Angel II, an almost exact duplicate of the original. The Azure Angel II would serve Anakin for a few battles but Anakin was asked to test-pilot the newer Delta-7B fighters, which Anakin agreed to. The Azure Angel II would remain in storage in the Jedi Temple and would eventually be destroyed in the Jedi Temple Bombing committed by Barriss Offee near the war's end. Anakin had switched to using an Eta-2 Actis Interceptor before this point in the war anyway.

The wreckage of the original Azure Angel though would remain on Yavin IV for well beyond the Clone Wars and even after the Galactic Civil War that followed it. It wasn't rediscovered until 13 ABY when Anakin's youngling grandchildren Jacen and Jaina Solo, along with Anakin's apprentice, Kento Marek, discovered the burnt-out, rusting, and overgrown hulk of the Azure Angel. They found that the old Aurabesh lettering with the fighter's name was still legible on its hulk, and formed a pseudo fraternity known as the "Brotherhood of the Azure Angel" the trio occasionally sneaking out to the area where the old fighter rested to play around as children would. As they grew older, they gradually stopped visiting the wreck until they stopped visiting it altogether. It wasn't until 28 ABY, with all three of them now grown and Jedi Knights, that they would return for one last time, bringing Anakin Solo and Tahiri Velia with them. They'd never known it was their grandfather's starfighter until Anakin Skywalker himself had followed them out and found the wreck as well. He then ordered a contingent of his 501st Legion to salvage the wreckage of the fighter, overgrowth and all, and bring it to his castle on Vjun to be placed on display in his private sanctum where the fighter has remained ever since.

Jaina Solo, a highly talented starfighter pilot and mechanic, has painted her own modified XJ3-Type X-Wing up in a similar blue and white livery as homage to the old "Brotherhood of the Azure Angel" and even named her X-Wing the Azure Angel II, unaware that her grandfather was both the pilot of the original or had already built (and lost) an Azure Angel II during the Clone Wars. Even though she now knows the original fighter's origins, she has kept her X-Wing named as such. Anakin himself has expressed a sense of pride that his granddaughter would name a starfighter as such.

A very interesting redesign, especially with extra powerful engines, the design reminds me of the Savage Star from the Jedi Path book.
