U.S.S. Bonaventure

This is one of the ships from my Star Trek Fanfiction Series: Star Trek: Corbulo. The series is not currently in production.

I should note that this particular ship already exists in Star Trek Canon, however, the Bonaventure's history is already ambiguously canon given what was said about it in Star Trek The Animated Series. The information presented below is canon in the Corbulo universe.

The U.S.S. Bonaventure was designed to be the first of the Federation's deep space exploration vessels, at least the first one of them built by joint shipbuilding operations. It was also the first ship capable of achieving Warp 6.9 although it later beat the warp speed records by reaching warp 7.8. The Bonaventure was scheduled to be launched in 2180 but by the time of the ship's completion, most of the senior officer vacancies were still being filled. One of the first vacancies filled was Talla Shran, the daughter of Andorian General Thy'lek Shran who had followed partially in her father's footsteps.

Admiral Archer briefly assumed command of the Bonaventure and took it through a fast shakedown cruise in response to the mounting conflict with the Romulan Star Empire. The Bonaventure served as Archer's flagship as he coordinated Starfleet's efforts in the Federation-Romulan War. Afterwards, Archer stepped down from command and gave command to his former helmsman, Travis Mayweather.

Mayweather remained in command of the Bonaventure but on its third mission, the ship began to be pulled into the Delta Triangle. Mayweather ordered all hands to abandon ship. All of the Bonaventure's crew managed to escape the ship mere seconds before it was pulled into the Delta Triangle. The crew was rescued by Starfleet but the ship itself wasn't rediscovered until 2269 by Captain Kirk and the Enterprise. Although the ship couldn't be recovered in 2269, Starfleet has kept a vigilant watch for the Delta Triangle ever since.
