Valence the Strong

Born in the bustling city of Stratholme in North Eastern Lordaeron only a few years after the Second War. Valence and her older sister Dana were the daughters of a Priest of the Holy Light and her husband, a footman of the Stratholme Garrison. Their father later died in a Troll attack, leaving them to be raised by their mother. While Dana opted to join the military to carry their father's legacy forward, Valence chose to join the Church of the Holy Light as a priest instead. She started as an altar girl and eventually rose to the level of Acolyte. She contemplated on joining the Order of the Silver Hand and becoming a Paladin but decided her service to the Church was more important. One of the people who influenced her devotion to the light was the Paladin Ballador the Bright who offered words of wisdom to her. He also allowed her to hold his war hammer, Lightbreaker, initially out of amusement but was surprised when the young and relatively small girl was able to not only lift the hammer but rest it on her shoulder. Ballador wanted to speak with Uther the Lightbringer about her but Uther had to hurry out with a contingent of forces for Hearthglen to rescue Crown Prince Arthas from an attack by the undead.

When the Plague started to hit Lordaeron, Valence was sent along with one of their Priests and with Dana as escort to Hearthglen to study the Plague. They passed Prince Arthas's forces on their way to Stratholme on the road. This timely passage saved them from the Culling of Stratholme but in the process the sisters lost their mother during the purge. Now homeless, the two headed for Lordaeron City for refuge. Once in Lordaeron City, Valence decided to devote her life to becoming a Paladin, to honor both her mother and father's legacies by becoming one of the Holy Warriors. Valence and her sister were sent along with an Emissary to Stormwind to petition for aid from the King to deal with the encroaching Scourge. They had just reached Stormwind when news of Lordaeron's fall arrived. Homeless once again only now without a kingdom to call home, they settled down in Stormwind. Dana joined the Stormwind Guard and was immediately accepted while Valence was sent to the Northshire Abbey to further her training. She trained her body and her mind to withstand punishment, building an indomitable will that could withstand intense psychological and physical torture.

As her training wound down, she stumbled upon Lightbreaker in one of the Abbey's store rooms. She learned that Ballador had fallen defending Andorhal from Arthas and the Scourge and Lightbreaker was recovered from the battle, the war hammer left discarded on the ground. Valence started training with Lightbreaker and her unusual strength earned her the title of Valence the Strong. Now with her training completed, she serves the Order of the Silver Hand in the field. Her duties have taken her as far as the Arathi Highlands and the Hillsbrad Foothills. but has always hesitated to enter Tirisfal Glades, Silverpine Forest, or the Plaguelands of her former home country due largely to the presence of the Forsaken and the Horde within these lands. She tends to make periodic trips between the highlands and Ironforge by way of the wetlands and Loch Modan, preferring to travel either by foot or on Resolute, her faithful warhorse.

Valence usually prefers to travel alone but regularly escorts Alliance soldiers and traders through the wetlands to and from the Arathi Highlands. She can usually be reached by mail sent to the inn in Thelsamar in Loch Modan or straight to Ironforge's Hotel District. She rarely travels to Stormwind. She has received offers to join the Scarlet Onslaught and the Argent Dawn and while she believes their motives are pure, their actions simply go too far for her comfort. To that end she remains a loyal member of the Order of the Silver Hand. She maintains regular contact with her older sister, Dana Farlight, now the Captain of the Westbrook Garrison in Elwynn Forest.
